Luke 2: 4-7 NLT
And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee.
He took with him Mary, his fiancée, who was now obviously pregnant. And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.
No was Necessary
How do we handle “NO”. The delay is does not mean denial.
Luke 2:19- but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.
1.) No helps us learn how to Control our flesh
Learning how to keep our peace, be mindful, thinking before we speak.
1 Corinthians 9:27(NLT) I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.
Galatians 5:7 (NLT) The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
2.) No was necessary to Celebrate our Favor
In the midst of all that is going on, all the trials and tribulations we can still reflect on the simple things we are blessed with. Breath, sight, time and opportunity. So many of us have so much to be grateful for.
Luke 2:21 Eight days later when the baby was circumcised, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel even before he was conceived.
3.) No was necessary to Confine our Fellowships
Luke 2:8, that night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep.
Times like these during a pandemic, has revealed who your real friends and loved ones are. What situations and relationships were ordained by God. It’s some people we haven’t seen, heard or been checked on since this chaos started. We need people who are willing to work, willing to take the journey just to be with me.
Luke 2:15 when the angels returned to heaven the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that had happened, which the Lord has told us about.” They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph and a baby lying in an manger.
COVID has come to remove people who are no longer required in your life for you to meet your calling. God is replacing them with shepherds to your destiny.
4.) No was necessary to certify my faithfulness
Luke 2:22 when it was time for their purification offering as required by law of Moses after the birth of a child; so his parents took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. Praise, Love, Honor God the same way or and more than we were before this season!
Especially being chosen to survive such times.
